Commissioned back in the 1894 by politician and banker Samuel van Eeghen, this charming row of seven houses represents the different architectural styles of seven countries across Europe. A very musical museum

An underwater prison
Built back in the 17th century, Torensluis is Amsterdam’s widest bridge – and one of its oldest too. But what lies under the bridge is perhaps much more fascinating: look closely and you’ll see the barred windows and arched entrance leading to the old dungeon below the water. These days, the prison is used for much more fun events, such as art exhibitions and evening occasions.

The world’s only floating flower market
If you’re hoping to impress someone special, be sure to take them along to the Bloemenmarkt to pick up a bouquet or two. It’s the only floating flower market in the whole world, and the floating stalls that gather here every day are a sight to behold. For the green fingered among you, the market also sells its own bulbs so that you too can grow your own bloemen!
